Walk with me

walk with meIt was such a lovely day out today, and the first one after a row of crappy rainy days so I wanted to bring you with me as I walked down to “my” lake.

It’s mine on the premise that I have adopted it.

I didn’t edit this clip a whole lot, or at all, since I just wanted to show you the joy of one of the first warm days.

The water is very high and its extremely windy, otherwise I usually sit at the end of that little pier with my legs in the water. ūüôā My happy place.

I think this weekend is the one for the first dip of the year. I went in as far as my shorts allowed me and it was 15 degrees, but I definitely think a quick dip is necessary! And I have to try out my new bathing suit!

Raise the sound ¬†a bit to hear all the nature. ūüôā

Divination Through Observation of Potatoes

DivinationI visited the police station in Alingsås today, for a very un sinister cause, I needed a new identification card. (the postoffice is holding my bathing suit hostage!) And while waiting for my turn, I find this fantastic, humorous, beautiful potato art on the wall. I had to take a few pictures and when I got home I researched the Artists behind the lovely potato creatures, that were actually in fact potato divinations.
Meditations on Divinations.
This is what it says about the piece on their website. Oh, and it’s from 2011 and was very much relevant then.

“In conjunction with the release of The Last Calendar, artist duo Bigert & Bergstr√∂m presents a series of artworks at the Forum in Stockholm. Meditations on Divinations is an exhibition that utilises¬†the ancient methods of predicting the future. With the help of coffee grinds, fuse wires and molten tin, this randomly transforms into meaning and the viewer is invited to a s√©ance where patterns and abstraction predict what is coming.”

“The Last Calendar focuses on next year’s predictions of the apocalypse based on interpretations of the long Mayan calendar. Its cycle reaches the end of the road on December 21, 2012, which is also the last date in The Last Calendar. On the way to this grand final, some of humanity’s earlier ideas about Ragnar√∂k are featured in a foreseeable¬†wall calendar for 2012.”

These are my photos from the police station so you have to excuse the glare and funny angles. They are fantastically unique and expressive. They make me want to think up little stories and thought bubbles for them. I wonder what they predicted for 2012.

Through Sweden, With Spring

Since I feel a bit like crap, but contented crap, if there is such a thing, after hosting a fabulous birthday party for 15 people I love very much, as an aspie and introvert, that is a bit draining and I have mostly been sleeping since, I will share some of the pictures I took (mostly from the car) on our recent trip to Stockholm. Even though you can just barely see the spring arriving, it’s still beautiful.

Lovely weather on the way home there. Obviously these are non edited pictures taken with an Iphone, but still. I love to live in a country where there are lots of open spaces, countryside, fields, lakes, animals and forests.

Driving through swedenThe winter is so hard, so dark and so depressing this far north, but that makes the coming of spring so much bigger and such a huge miracle! The first tussilago = coltsfoot flowers along the roadsides are truly a thing to marvel about, to take pictures of and carefully pick one or two, but leave most for others to see. And then spring sort of slowly explode, plant by plant. I have so many spring-flowering plants in my garden because of this, lilac, rhododendron, and daffodils to name a few, spring is my favourite season, f**k the hay feever!

Icy day

I took the camera out this sunny Saturday by the icy lake √Ėmmern. I’m learning and trying, but I mostly stayed in auto mode on the camera. But it was very beautiful. Anyway it was a great day and I am so glad we got out to this lovely place because Sunday was all foggy and grey.img_9915img_9923img_9889img_9881img_9850

Rule of Thirds

As I learn more and more about photography I found this great tutorial by Alishia of Just Leesha¬†¬†about the “Rule of thirds”, on the Simple as That blog.

Original photo.
I love this photo, its not that sharp, because its taken with an Iphone and cold shaky hands. But its so me. I love water, and if I can’t bathe and swim, I settle for standing in it in rubber boots. ūüôāimg_0731

Photo cropped with the “rule of thirds” advice. And its instantly more pleasing to the eye, right.¬†thirds1

Here I have painted in the rule of thirds grid, and you can see I have placed the focus of the picture, the rubber boots, in the intersection of two of the lines. I have even tried to make my left leg follow one of the lines, as good as possible. thirds2

Summer

I want to go swimming again.
I took this picture last summer, drying in the sun after swimming around and playing in the water with my husband. I love swimming and playing in the water, my husband calls me a penguin, because I am clumsy on land and agile in the water. Its true!
Im planning to take my first dip in May at least, remember this is cold Sweden.
