Walk with me

walk with meIt was such a lovely day out today, and the first one after a row of crappy rainy days so I wanted to bring you with me as I walked down to “my” lake.

It’s mine on the premise that I have adopted it.

I didn’t edit this clip a whole lot, or at all, since I just wanted to show you the joy of one of the first warm days.

The water is very high and its extremely windy, otherwise I usually sit at the end of that little pier with my legs in the water. ūüôā My happy place.

I think this weekend is the one for the first dip of the year. I went in as far as my shorts allowed me and it was 15 degrees, but I definitely think a quick dip is necessary! And I have to try out my new bathing suit!

Raise the sound ¬†a bit to hear all the nature. ūüôā

Model Goats

Model Goats

I love goats and sheep, really, I love their quirky, skittish nature and how if you gain their trust they love to be petted, scratched and hugged. But I think I am outmatched by photographer Kevin Horan who has taken the most stunning, personality imbued, black and white studio photos of goats. Head over there to have a look att all the pictures and just marvel!

This isn’t just about being a skilled photographer, which he obviously is, its making the camera catch that thing that you can see and want to show to other people. That thing that I, so far, am unable to make any camera do. I’m working on it, not giving up.

Happy Friday

Friday

I’m just going to leave you with some nature photos today. Its been really cold and fall like, and I thought summer was over. But today it was hot and lovely, so I just soaked in the summer. I’m so glad it wasn’t over!

Well that’s practically all of my clothespins, which reminds me, I should go take them in!¬†IMG_3164

Painting my toenails and letting my hair air dry, sitting in the shade where I am most comfortable. ūüôāIMG_3167

Perfect little acorns forming, camera not  focusing.

And rowan berries, there are loads of those about right now.

It turned really dark and sinister all of a sudden. IMG_3176

And then the sun came out again, that’s how it is living close to the sea.¬†IMG_3185

Artsy fartsy picture of the weathered pier that is my happy place. IMG_3187

The cutest little vacation house! My clematis certainly does not look like that! IMG_3171

“My” sheep, with the side of my house, with my apple trees and lilac hedge.¬†IMG_3188

And then I came home to this little beauty! It was windy today. I guess we know what we are doing this weekend. Firewood!DSC03117

My Sheepie Neighbours

Sheep NeighboursMy nearest neighbours are of the sheepie persuasion.

When our house was built 20 years ago, a little run down torp = croft was demolished and a bigger part of the plot was dug out to make a smooth plateau for the new house and garden. So that leaves us with three planes to our property, the old highest one with really old trees and honeysuckle, the plateau with the house a little bit lower, a shed and a more structured lawn, and another old part even lower down that used to be pasture. The two first parts are fenced in so no dear or anything can come in, yay I can grow tulips, but mostly so that the previous owners dogs could not get out. ūüėČ That leaves a big piece of pasture that we are now loaning out to these lovely sheep.

Let me introduce you to the ewe Rut with her lambs Birgitta and Jenny, and Alice with her lamb Inez. They are lovely to have around, Rut is the most trusting one, she has known me the longest and Alice is a bit bossy, the lambs are a weary of me still but I’m winning them over with pieces of crisp bread. Birgitta and Jenny has the cutest pink noses and Inez is a bit round with a gorgeous brownish wool. I miss Saga though, the ewe that was here earlier this summer, she and I had an understanding. ūüėČ
