100 Days Update, 42-47

day 42-47

I am still behind, but I’m working hard to catch up. I’m realising its not doing the right number on the exact right date, but rather to keep the creativity flowing continuously. Here we have day 42-47.

I have so far been invited to two exhibitions that I hope my pieces will be able to attend, there is just some pesky logistics to settle. 🙂

42aDay 42:
Quote 95: “may came home with a smooth round stone, as small as a world and as large as alone.” E.E. Cummings

43aDay 43:
Quote 27: “Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.” Buddha

44bDay 44:
Quote 75: “Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen.” Leonardi da Vinci

45aDay 45:
Quote 47: “Holly: You know those days when you get the mean reds? Paul: The mean reads, you mean like the blues? Holly: No. The blues are because you are getting fat and maybe its been raining for too long, your just sad that’s all. The mean reads are horrible. Suddenly you’re afraid and you don’t know what you’re afraid of. Do you ever get that Feeling?” Breakfast at Tiffany’s

46aDay 46:
Quote 19: “Always remember that your are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else.” Margaret Mead

47aDay 47:
Quote 26: “Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies.” Aristotle

Alternative Foods

I have never had a really good relationship with food, and I have often stated that if someone comes up with a food pill I will gladly give up all food, even chocolate, to not have the hassle of food. I contribute a lot of these problems with food to the fact that I have Aspergers.

Sometimes I wanna eat only vegetables and sometimes all I want is cookies and chips, sometimes I eat to much, and sometimes I don’t eat enough. If left to my own devices I tend to slowly drift upwards in weight and then I have to go through a period of sharpening up to loose the weight again. I am always floating upwards, or fighting downwards, how come the downward periods always seem so much longer? (rhetorical question) And how do I know that I get all the nutrients I need, especially as a vegan, no I am not worried about protein.

Well anyway, now there are alternative foods on the market. Not a “solve everything pill” but food in powder form that you make a shake out of and drink during the day. This way you are supposed to get every vitamin, protein, mineral and whatever else your body needs, without having to think about it, and you can also control you calorie intake to what suits you best.

Alternative foodsI am extremely intrigued by this idea, I might not want to switch to fluid meals all day, every day, but maybe ill just have a regular dinner, or when there just isn’t time or energy to make something nutritious, a time when I would have made an unhealthy pot of noodles or something like that.  Maybe its hard to find a healthy meal when traveling, specially a vegan one. Thats a time when a fluid meal that contains all you need would come in very handy.

I have contacted a few companies that provides vegan produkts like this in Europe, and I will start making review posts about them. I am also planning to have a comparison post at the end to see what I thought, what they tasted like, what the cost were and whatever else I discover.

I hope some of you are as intrigued by this as I am. 🙂

Rats: Pet or Pest?

Diane Özdamar is a french illustrator / graphic designer / photographer that has spent years photographing rats to break the negative image of them by taking cute pictures, and I think she has definitely succeeded. Or what do you think?

Day 35-41

day35-41

Here we have the latest 100 days project pieces. I am trying to catch up and I am finding that doing them in batches of two or tree is actually helpful, makes me more creative. I love taking the pictures of them, and I think that is what I will exhibit in the end.

Day 35:
Quote 32: “Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue and the dreams that you dream really do come true.” Judy Garland

36b

Day 36:
Quote 69: “Adults follow paths. Children explore. Adults are content to walk the same way, hundreds of times, or thousands; perhaps it never occurs to adults to step off the paths, to creep beneath rhododendrons, to find the spaces between fences. I was a child, which meant that I knew a dozen different ways of getting out of our property and into the lane, ways that would not involve walking down our drive.” Neil Gaiman35a

Day 37:
Quote 68: “He had noticed that events were cowards: they didn’t occur singly, but instead they would run in packs and leap out at him all at once.” Neil Gaiman37a

Day 38:
Quote 30: “Hello darkness my old friend, I’ve come to talk with you again.” Paul Simon38a

Day 39:
Quote 79: “The rain to the wind said, You push and I’ll pelt.’ They so smote the garden bed That the flowers actually knelt, And lay lodged–though not dead. I know how the flowers felt.” Robert Frost39b

Day 40:
Quote 97: “Dare to love yourself, as if you were a rainbow, with gold at both ends.” Aberjhani40a

Day 41:
Quote 67: “Every hour wounds. The last one kills.” Neil Gaiman41a

Okja, with a bow.

I thought I would write about this movie while it is fresh, while the credits are still running, the music is still in my headphones and I am still crying. Okja.
Edit: (The bit after the credits made me smile a bit again though.)

18486350_1286934208069268_3997232685207402378_n

I think, I really do, that this is one of the best movies I have ever watched, cinematically, definitely, and most importantly emotionally.
Its funny, I laughed out loud, rewound and laughed again, the animations are incredibly well made, the terrorist are hilarious (oh the umbrellas), Okja is extremely believable, Mija is a strong independent, non traditional, fantastic, hero and role model, the villans  and sell outs are recognisable with their usual motive, money, and its sad, so so sad.
Because its true, sort of, just made into a format that is easier to digest for most people.
Because this is vegan propaganda.
In fancy packeting.
With a bow.
And its brilliant.

Okja-

The person who though this up, Joon-Ho Bong, is a genius. Making a whole new creature, that we have no prior conception of, a blank so to speak, a huge, friendly creature, a best friend, a totoro, someone who saves your life, in this case literally, in reality more likely figuratively. Same same.

And what happens, the thing that always happens, the thing that we keep ignoring, that we close our eyes to, that we pretend is ok, and “humane”.
It is not by the way.
I have spent the last half hour crying for this huge friendly blank, Okja, because of what she represents. I am vegan, and I will never eat meat or animal products again, that, I can promise.

I hope millions of people watch this movie because of the cute creature on the poster, the fantastic performances of the actors, “aww” in the beginning, laugh in the middle, and come out of the cinema crying, rethinking their way of life.

One Lovely Blog Award!

one-lovely-blog-award-badge1

Thank you so much Honest K, for nominating me for this lovely pink award. Go have a look over at her site, especially if you are as fond of sarcasm as I am.
Your passive aggressive sarcasm is hilarious, probably because its true. (Good luck with Popcorn)

Rules:

  1. Each nominee must thank the person who nominated them and link their blog in their post.
  2. They must include the rules and add the blog award badge as an image.
  3. Must add 7 facts about themselves.
  4. Nominate 15 people to do the award!

7 more or less interesting facts about me:

  1. I named my Angora rabbits after IKEA furniture, book cases to be exact, Billy and Ivar, now I can’t get another one since Expedit is an awful bunny name.
  2. I married my husband on our ten-year anniversary of our first kiss (we think) and this year is our 10+10 anniversary.
  3. I am hoping to train a service dog, to help me with my mental health issues.
  4. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art, Jewellery to be exact.
  5. I hate answering the phone or making phone calls, but I used to work extra as both a phone interviewer and a receptionist.
  6. I love reading and I tend to stay with Classics, Science Fiction and Horror. (That goes for movies too, now that I think about it.)
  7. I am Vegan. I eat fully vegan and I do my best in all other areas.

I totally agree with Honest K here, 15 people, that is quite a lot, I get that its supposed to snowball but 15 people is an explosion.
